BRIEF HISTORY OF BLSA
In 2004, BSc. in Biotechnology and Laboratory Sciences (BLS) course was established in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) formerly known as the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).
At that time, BLS students were under Tanzania Veterinary Students’ Association (TVSA). In 2008, with the growing number of BLS students the BLSA had to be established with the aim of uniting BLS students so as to have a common say in all matters pertaining to them.
Later in early 2015, Diploma in Laboratory Technology (DLT) course was established aiming to impart basic knowledge to students with regard to general laboratory technical works. The main focus was to produce competent technicians who would apply basic skills and knowledge in the field of science and laboratory technology. BLS students then joined together with DLT students to form even stronger BLSA!
Special thanks and appreciation are given to the Tanzania Veterinary Students’ Association (TVSA) for welcoming and accommodating the BLS Students at the beginning, (2004- 2008).
